Frequently Asked Questions
Questions you might have.
Everything you might want to know before getting in touch. Can't find your answer here? Just ask.
Amethyst Nexalune Web Design is my one-person web design and development studio in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, working remotely with small businesses across the UK and Hungary. This page answers the questions that come up most often before a project starts: how pricing works, how long a build takes, what is included, who owns the finished site, how revisions are handled, and whether ongoing support is available. Websites start from £290, with the timeline depending on the package. Web apps are quoted per project and usually take 6–16 weeks. Every site is hand-coded and responsive. Your content and domain remain yours, and the Terms of Service explain how you can use the code. After launch, a Care Plan covers the maintenance listed in your chosen package. If a question is not covered here, the contact page has a form and an email address.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a project take?
It depends on the package, a Basic website is usually ready in 1–2 weeks, while a full web app can take 6–16 weeks depending on complexity. You'll get a clear timeline before any work starts.
Are the prices on this page the final cost?
They're starting points. The final price depends on your project's specific scope and complexity. If your budget doesn't quite match, get in touch anyway, we'll figure out a solution together.
Do you build with a website builder or template?
No. Every site is hand-coded from scratch and tailored to your business, rather than squeezed into a generic template or built with a drag-and-drop website builder. That means it loads faster, looks exactly the way you want, has no unnecessary plugins to update, and is easier for Google to understand. Websites are built with HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and web apps and business software also use Python, Django and a PostgreSQL database.

No, I'm UK-based but work fully remotely with small businesses across the UK and Hungary.
Will I be able to update the site myself afterward?
By default, no: each site is custom-coded rather than built on a CMS, so there's no admin panel to log into. On request, I can add a simple admin panel where you can update texts, prices or images yourself, priced as an extra. Alternatively, the Ultra and Premium Care Plan tiers include image and content updates every 3 months, so things stay current without you needing to touch any code.
Do I need the Care Plan?
The Care Plan is optional. The Basic plan starts from £20/month and includes uptime monitoring, performance checks, malware and vulnerability scans, and automatic backups. Higher plans add DNS and SEO monitoring, WAF monitoring and regular content updates. Regular checks help catch problems early.
Can you redesign my existing website instead of building a new one?
Yes, I offer a free website audit first: I'll review what you have and tell you what's worth improving, with no obligation.
Can you build the site in both English and Hungarian?
Yes, bilingual (EN/HU) content support is available, especially for the Ultra and Premium packages.
Do you work with clients in Budapest and the rest of Hungary?
Yes. I work online with businesses in Budapest and anywhere in Hungary, in Hungarian. We talk on a video call, and you get the same fixed price and process as my UK clients.
Can you make my website accessible (WCAG)?
Yes, on request. I can build your website to meet the WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility level, so it works with a keyboard, has good contrast and makes sense to screen readers. It is an optional extra, priced by the size of the site. Read what accessibility costs →
What is SEO and why does it matter?
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the process of optimizing a site so it ranks better in search engines. It matters because it helps more of the right visitors find your site.
What do Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices, and SEO mean, and why do they matter?
Google Lighthouse checks pages in these categories. Performance covers loading speed and how quickly the page responds. Accessibility checks things such as image descriptions and button labels that help people use the site with a screen reader. Best Practices checks certain technical and security measures. SEO checks whether basic settings are in place to help search engines read the page. These checks are automated, so a good score still needs to be backed up by manual testing. You can read how this site handles accessibility in my accessibility statement.
What is GEO, and do you optimize for it too?
GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) aims to help AI-generated answers describe your content accurately and cite it as a source. Clear, well-organised content on your site provides a good foundation. I also add some extra background information for search and AI tools, but this does not guarantee a mention in AI answers.
What do I need to provide to get started?
Mainly your content, text, photos, your logo, and brand colors if you already have them. If anything's missing, I can help fill the gaps or suggest a good alternative.
Do you build e-commerce websites and online stores too?
Yes, I build custom e-commerce sites and online stores, not generic templates. Every package includes secure checkout with PayPal and Stripe integration, product catalogue setup, and mobile-responsive design. Check the Services page for the E-commerce package tiers and pricing.
Do you build custom software and business systems too?
Yes, beyond websites I build custom B2B software and internal business systems: client onboarding portals, quote and sales-pipeline tracking, staff onboarding and training portals (LMS), job management, inventory, booking platforms, and compliance tracking. They're made to replace work stuck in spreadsheets. There are four live demos on the Software page, and pricing is quote-based, scoped per project.
How much does custom software cost and how long does it take?
Custom software is quoted individually because each system needs to do something different. A small, single-purpose tool usually takes less work than a system with several modules. A typical build takes 6–16 weeks, and you can review the completed parts as we go. After the consultation and once the requirements are clear, you get a fixed written quote and timeline before work starts.
Can I try the software before committing?
Yes. The Software page has live demos you can open and click through, currently a client onboarding portal, a training portal (LMS), a quote tracker, and an asset-rental tracker, with more on the way. They show how the real systems work. For your own project, the first step is a free consultation to scope what you actually need.
Not sure which fits?
Tell me what you need, and we'll figure out the right starting point.
Pricing depends on the features you need and the work involved. If the numbers above don't quite match your budget, reach out anyway, we'll adjust the solution together so it works for both of us.
